(Saoirse is an Irish word which means 'freedom' or 'liberty'.) Saoirse is the main Republican prisoner support organisation which campaigned to protect the interests and to press for the release of those imprisoned as a result of their involvement in the conflict in Northern Ireland. Saoirse publicity material used a number of symbols including a green ribbon, a dove, and barbed wire.
